Small Business Development Corporation

Last week I (Alex) attended a workshop hosted by the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) on behalf of North Coast Design called ‘Cash is King’. I attended this workshop with Jake Lampard from LPD Surveys.

This workshop was fully subsidized by the government so was free to attend and was not industry specific to building design so there were an array of current and prospective business owners in attendance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop as it was a very hands on experience and was explained very well by the hosts Brenton and Solvita from Nexia Australia. It allowed me to further develop my understanding of business financials. In particular balances sheets and the importance of Cash Flow.

It has only recently come to my attention the variety of assistance and workshops that the SBDC offer. I look forward to becoming more involved with these to further expand my personal knowledge. This will then also reflect through North Coast Design.

As previously mentioned, this workshop was not industry specific and neither are others so if you are a small business owner or are looking at starting up your own small business regardless of whether it be a Building Designer in Perth, a professional service, trade or anything else then I recommend that you get onto the Small Business Development Corporation website and see what they have to offer. I know that I will be making the most of the other services and programs that they offer. The will not only better the company, but also expanding my own knowledge.
